I just spent the last hour updating my firmware to Yakju so that I will never again have to wait for an update from Samsung.

I was sitting at home earlier and got a notification update and I almost shit myself because I thought this was Samsung telling me I was allowed to update to Jelly Bean.

(I have a galaxy nexus, btw).

It wasn’t. Because I’m in Canada we have the Canadian version of the nexus and thus we don’t get our updates directly from Samsung which means we have to wait SO long for shit. Guess what the update was? ICS 4.0.2!! Jelly Bean is 4.1.1 (ERKS!)

4.0.2 was supposed to be available to us back in January of 2012 and I’m only NOW getting it? I said fuck this. I sent Samsung Canada a couple tweets letting them know I was pissed then took it into my own hands to find a way to either root my phone to get JB or something else.

I found it.

I was really scared to try before because I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to this ish and I really didn’t want to brick my phone BUT I found a wonderful tutorial online that seemed very straight forward and the walk throughs seemed extremely easy to follow. They even had step-by-step pictures y’all and I’m a visual learner. 

I decided to go ahead and do it.

It was worth the risk. Not only was it completely easy and simple but Jelly Bean is everything it’s promised to be AND MORE. I’m about to shit myself from all the excitement. I bet my brother (who has the same phone as me) will magically find his ass at my house tomorrow to do his. LOL!

If *I* can root my phone in just under an hour .. ANYONE can. Trust that.
